Advanced Soft Tissue Surgery – Liver and biliary tract

This is a two day practical course for colleagues interested in deepening their knowledge in liver and biliary tract surgeries. The object of the course is to provide the participants with the fundamental skills to accurately perform diagnosis, clinical decision making and to acquire surgical skills in the different liver and biliary tract pathologies. The course includes a theoretical part and practical part, during which direct surgical skills will be acquired under the supervision of specialist.

Day 1: 

09:00-11:00 Theory: Anatomy of the liver and gallbladder; Liver – surgical pathology

11:15-12:30 Theory: Liver biopsy, liver lobectomy techniques

12:30-13:30 Lunch break (lunch included)

13:45-17:30 Wet-Lab

Day 2:

09:00-11:00 Theory: Extrahepatic biliary obstruction decision making; Cholecystectomy / cholecystoduodenostomy / choledocotomy techniques

11:00-11:15 Coffee break

11:15-12:30 Theory: Extrahepatic portosystemic shunt – pathology, diagnosis, surgical techniques

12:30-13:30 Lunch break (lunch included)

13:45-17:30 Wet-Lab
